For when two characters (usually black and white) sleep in the same bed; Benjy with Luster in S&F, Lucas and Henry in GDM, etc. -JBP

I needed a way to convey characters who secretly leave at night for some reason - Miss Quentin in S&F, but there is also Lena Grove and Joe Christmas in Light in August and probably others. Perhaps this could/should be a recurring trope? -JBP

This particular term is in reference to The Hamlet where the Snopeses disrupt the natural order of things, but then the community of Frenchman's Bend returns to its old ways. It is a cycle of disruption and stability, where a return to normalcy is prized above all else. JB

I'm thinking of the times when someone enters a community who is unknown and the collective community has suspicions about this character. A clear example would be Lena Grove. (jj)

This term refers to the body itself being referred to symbolically, as when in AILD Peabody says death is "no more than a single family or tenant moving out of a tenement or a town" or the subadar in "Ad Astra" referring to the body as "a room in the inn . . . where we hide for a little while" (420).
