Narrated
Date:
Wednesday, October 1, 1890 to Friday, October 31, 1890
Notes:
TMT: While it could be argued that this passage is narrated rather than remembered, I have chosen the latter because of how Hightower echoes the notion of his grandfather "'deodorised' ... of sanctity somewhat" (473). It seems to me that he has been in a reverie that he then slightly corrects in the present time of August 1932.
Summary:
On a rainy day in October when he was eight-years-old, Hightower discovered his father's Civil War coat. That night he was unable to sleep.
