Summary:
Mr. Compson returns to the cabin after looking for Jesus around the cabin. He says that no one is there but Nancy insists that Jesus is waiting in the ditch. She explains how a hog bone appeared on her table and is a sign of his presence and violent intentions. Mr. Compson insists this is "nonsense" (307 and says that she should go to Aunt Rachel's cabin rather than back to Compson place. Nancy insists that nothing can be done to make her safe, that going anywhere will "do no good" (307). Mr. Compson tells Nancy she should go to bed and turn out the light.
