Unnamed Italian-American Girl

The unnamed "secretive" little girl (126) who somehow becomes attached to Quentin is the child of Italian immigrants, though it is possible that she herself - unlike her older brother Julio - was born in the U.S. Quentin describes her complexion as "like a cup of milk dashed with coffee," implying she is not exactly 'white' (125). She apparently can speak English, but when she meets Quentin at the bakery, she does not tell him who she is or where she lives, and she remains mysteriously silent while he travels with her in search of her home.
