Temple is scared of being seen. Popeye tells her to stay in the car and goes into the filling station. When he comes back he sees that Temple is no longer in the car; he finds her hiding round the corner of the building behind a barrel. She saw someone she recognized from school and ran away. Popeye forces her to go back to the car even though she is still bleeding. In the car he gives her a sandwich to eat. He starts the car and takes the Memphis road.
