TMT: I decided to make the woman's husband the man who goes toward grandpa's house. There's not much evidence that he is, but since he's not individuated (like the two men who approach Georgie), I decided that the wronged husband might well take himself to deliver the news of Rodney's end.

Summary:

Georgie sees a total of seven men running in the neighbors' yard, one of whom heads for Grandpa's house, six "carrying something long" (285), and two who approach Georgie. One of the latter picks up Georgie and carries him back to Grandpa's house, saying that what Georgie thinks is "a Christmas present for grandpa" is "from all the husbands in Mottstown" (286).
