Biography:
The plucky, young son of Eck Snopes. He "never looked like" a Snopes: "a tall dark man except for the eyes of an incredible tender youthful periwinkle blue" (461). And he "had never acted like a Snopes" (461): through hard work in and out of school, Wallstreet ends up running a wholesale grocery in Jefferson "by the outrageous unSnopesish method of jest selling ever body exactly what they thought they was buying, for exactly what they thought they was going to pay for it" (170). He later moves his family to Memphis, at which point he owns a chain of "wholesale grocery establishments blanketing half of Mississippi and Tennessee and Arkansas" (461).
