Valley Road in The Unvanquished (Location)

Northward from the Sartoris plantation this road leads toward Corinth, which is about sixty miles away, and where Loosh tells Bayard and Ringo the Yankees are (5). Southward, it leads to Jefferson, which as Ringo notes is four miles away (77). In the opening chapter, "Ambuscade," Bayard and Ringo first sight a Union soldier along this road. In the second chapter, "Retreat," Bayard recalls that sighting as they drive along this road on their way to Jefferson.
