Luster and Benjy go into Dilsey's Cabin. She calls Luster a "vilyun" as Benjy bellers. Dilsey tells Luster to go get the slipper. Luster returns with a white satin slipper. Benjy calms down when he holds the slipper. Dilsey asks Luster if he can find T. P.. Luster tells Dilsey that T.P. said he would go out to St. Johns and be back by 4:00 PM. Luster tells Dilsey that he can drive the surrey instead. Dilsey agrees to let him.
Summary:
To keep from disturbing Mrs. Compson, Dilsey takes the distraught Benjy into her cabin and tries to comfort him. She agrees reluctantly to let Luster drive the surrey to the graveyard with Benjy.
