If Faulkner is imagining it in this story in the same place in occupies in As I Lay Dying, it's quite a ways from Mrs. Littlejohn's lot, indicating how far the spotted horses run to, and explaining why Lon Quick takes a "camp outfit" with him in pursuit of the one he bought (180).
