Biography:

Uncle Ben Quick’s son, Lon operates the local sawmill and is described as "a lank man with a bulging dreaming scant-haired head and pale myopic eyes" (63). A local hangabout in front of the Varner store, he bids first on Buck Hipps' wild ponies. In As I Lay Dying and a number of short stories, he has a son of the same name.

Note:
SR In the fictions there are both "Lon Quick" (4 texts) and "Solon Quick" (3 texts, all later). These might be two different names for same character, and Brooks indexes 'him' that way, as 'QUICK, SOLON, 'LON.'" But others (Dasher, Kirk) separate them into two different characters with almost the same name, and that's what we have chosen to do too. JHB In "Tomorrow," Lon Quick has a son named "Isham" who owns a sawmill.
