Summary: 

Leaving the flatlands, the Sheriff and his deputies drive into the hills again. At the four mile sign to Jefferson, Mink tries to commit suicide. He attempts to throw himself into one of the wheels, but misses and gets caught his neck caught in the wagon frame. The Sheriff stops the surrey, and they rescue Mink and throw water on him.
