Summary:

A very old Issetibbeha used to praise the bounty of the land while criticizing the folly of the people. This could have been prior to the main events of the story, but because the narrator refers to Issetibbeha at this time as "so old that nothing more was required of him," we have decided to date it during the last two years of his life (362).
