Date:
Tuesday, January 1, 1895 to Monday, December 31, 1900
Notes:
Shreve seems to be responsible for the entire italicized passage pages 171-74, but it seems extremely unlikely that he would have known about an event like this, the strangers from Arkansas passing through Yoknapatawpha, even after Quentin apparently already told him a lot about the Sutpen story before Jan 1910. There's no other possible source but Shreve, however, since Quentin is referred to as "you" in this passage.
Summary:
One night "twenty-six years" after the Sutpen house was empty, "a wagon full of strangers" tries to spend the night there but drive away quickly after "something happened" (172). [SOURCE: Shreve]
