Jason tells Caddy if she shows up at the house again, Caroline will fire Dilsey, put Benjy in a home, and leave town with Miss Quentin. Caroline demands to see the bank statements to make sure the checks are being deposited into Caroline's account. He refuses. Caddy threatens to take Miss Quentin. They argue about who is more at risk or who has more at stake in having custody of Miss Quentin. Caddy begs Jason to promise that Miss Quentin will have things "like the other girls."

This event must have followed closely after the first visit by Caddy. It makes little sense that she would return years later. I changed the date back to the previous range. JB

Summary:

The "next time" Jason talks with Caddy, at night on a town street, he warns her never to try seeing her child again, and she pleads with him to at least use the money she can send to "be kind" to Miss Quentin (209) and "see that she has things like other girls" (210).
