Biography:

Little is known about Sergeant Harrison's background, other than his last name and rank in the Union army. He is first spotted by Ringo and Bayard looking at the Sartoris family home through field glasses, and it apparently is his horse that was shot by them. He was clearly angered by that shooting, but mainly because the victim was "the best horse in the whole army" (12), on which the entire regiment was betting in an upcoming horse race. Much more hostile to Rosa Millard than his commanding officer, he orders other soldiers to search the house in search of the "little devils" he seems to believe she sent to shoot at them (12).
