Summary:

Realizing that he has made a bad deal with Pat Stamper, Ab Snopes becomes desperate to get his team back. When he arrives at the camp site though, Stamper claims to have already sold off the horse and mule. Ab trades the mule team for a horse that is "hog fat" and "looked round as a ball, with no more front or back end than an Irish potato" (45).
