After 23 years in Jefferson, Mrs. Gant buys a house for her and Zilphia to live in, "a frame bungalow, bleak as a calendar picture, on an obscure street" ("Miss Zilphia Gant," 375). As is noted in the entry for Jason Compson's Bungalow, which lists several of the characters who reside in 'bungalows,' by definition a bungalow is a low house, usually of just one story.
