"A Courtship", 361 (Event)

The unnamed narrator introduces this story about "the old days" (361). The text gives no clue about where he himself is when he tells the story, and the only clue to a date is that his father was there during the "old days" described in the tale. But since the narrator says nothing that would suggest his tribe is no longer on the Plantation, we are locating him there, and dating the telling of the story in 1830, just before the Chickasaws were relocated to Oklahoma.
