Summary:
U.S. President Andrew Jackson officially approves "the grant" by which Quentin Lycurgus Compson acquires his domain (326). Faulkner creates a chronological inconsistency here. Jackson was President between 1829 and 1837, but the Appendix makes it clear that the land was acquired less than two full years after 1811, the date Compson arrived in Yoknapatawpha (326).
