The narrator refers to "the Jew owners of Chicago and New York sweatshops," who manufacture the "fine bright cheap intransigent clothes" that TP wears (343). The assumption that owners of garment factories would be Jewish and the designation of those factories as "sweatshops" indicate a streak of antisemitism that sounds more in line with the voice of Jason Compson IV in 1929 than Faulkner's post-WWII narrator in the "Appendix."
