Photo Gallery: Unidentified Places in Lafayette County

The first two photos below were shot by Marion Post Wolcott and Walker Evans, two of the photographers who worked for the Farm Security Administration during the Great Depression. The 1949 photograph was taken during the filming of Intruder in the Dust on location somewhere in Lafayette; the photographer is unknown. The other photos were made by Martin J. Dain in the early 1960s, as part of the record he set out to make of Faulkner's County and Faulkner's World, the titles of the two collections of his work published in 1964 and 1997.
