Preflight Training Camp (Location Key)

After enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the start of World War II, Charles Mallison is sent to a "preflight" training camp (252). "Knight's Gambit" gives no indication of where this is. During World War II, the U.S. Army Air Corps established training fields throughout Mississippi, including a major one at Columbus, Mississippi - which is where we speculate that Charles was sent.
