Memphis Junction|Junction-Point|Tennessee Junction in "Hair" (Location)

A junction point is a place where several railroad lines meet or cross. The "junction-point" mentioned in this story (143) is presumably the same one that, on his 1936 map of Yoknapatawpha, Faulkner calls "Memphis Junction" and locates north of the county. When Hawkshaw takes the train out of Jefferson, he buys a ticket to this point, from which, as Mitch Ewing notes, he could take other trains "to either Memphis or Birmingham or New Orleans" (143).
