Photo Gallery: Jackson, Mississippi

Jackson has been the capital of Mississippi since 1821. As Act Two of Faulkner's Requiem for a Nun describes, and as pictured in the first photo below, Jackson was occupied and burned by Union forces during the Civil War. The second photo was made later, but almost certainly in the 19th century.
