Summary:

The trial lasts for a "brief and record day-and-a-quarter," and the jury decides within twenty minutes on murder in the second degree (368). Mink is sentenced to life at the State Penal Farm but, even during the sentencing, he continues to look to the back of the room. He then struggles with the officers and bailiffs and calls out for his cousin, Flem Snopes.
