Summary:

Mink drags Houston's corpse out of the depression and to the "shell of a once-tremendous pin oak." Using a rope, he hauls the corpse up and drops it into the hollow trunk, but jams it immediately. He then tries to climb the rotting oak, its bark coming to pieces in his hands. Eventually ascending the rim, he satisfies himself that the corpse is safely bestowed inside.
