Summary: 

Hot on Ike's trail, the farmer again follows Ike' trail through the pasture and into the woods, losing and them finding signs of "wasted milk" and "bent grass" (214). Throughout the day, he loses and finds the trail repeatedly and is caught in a hard rain, returning with one hour of daylight to where he first saw the spilled milk.
