Notes:

Given the seven year difference in their ages, it seems reasonable to locate this memory at a time when they would both enjoy playing in the mud as well as playing together.

Summary:

Horace remembers the street outside the Benbow house when he and Narcissa were children. It was unpaved, and after heavy rain it turned into a kind of canal in which they played. He recalls "the prints of his and his sister's naked feet" where they pressed them into the concrete at the entrance of the drive (122).
