Summary: 

In the seven years that they live together, the Galveston prostitute takes Houston's name, although the two are never married. The couple move from Galveston to El Paso and occupy a home together. Houston waits for his woman to become pregnant and debates marrying her. He learns of his father's death, and an offer is made on the family land.
