Biography:

We learn from several sources in the novel that Addie's "people" lived in Jefferson (171), though we are not given any idea where or what their family name was. We are also told that by the time she meets Anse Bundren, all her family are now buried "in the cemetery" in town (171). Her father is the one member of this family who is individuated, though only as a voice. Addie's one chapter in the novel begins and ends with the memory of what "my father used to say" (169): "that the reason for living is getting ready to stay dead" a long time (175).

Note:
I am at a loss as to what sort name to use? Shall I use Bundren to make him findable with relation to Addie? For peripheral characters what is our rule of thumb going to be for determining Alive or Dead status when no explicit mention is made? Also for First Mentioned I've put Jefferson as a place holder -- ??? The place where we locate Addie’s monologue or if included in locations the “home” from page 169 since it is likely her parents home, before Anse and because she is remembering how he used to say, therefore, it is likely at this home she is remembering it.
